Amanda Quaid Grace Petrie is my new favorite artist. The purity of her voice, the wit in her lyrics, and her rare ability to articulate nuance and even ambivalence in her political songs put her in a class by herself. This is refreshing, uplifting, thought-provoking music. Favorite track: Protest Singer Blues.

emilyra99 Listened to this album driving home the night lockdown was announced so I wouldn't be alone at uni and it really uplifted me on the journey. Every time I listen to it now I'm reminded of how surreal the experience was and how everything was so scary and uncertain and I wasn't even going to be able to hug my mum for a couple of weeks when I got home, but something about this album just felt so optimistic and comforting. Leaves such a warm feeling despite reminding me of an uncertain time. Favorite track: I Climbed A Mountain.

about

"Love is my rebellion, compassion my dissent"

After releasing two solo albums to critical acclaim, Grace Petrie has finally gone (kind of) electric.

Her third studio album Love Is My Rebellion charts the journey beyond protest singer, through mid-term political cynicism and personal change to emerge through shades of folk, Americana and country as a more mature songwriting voice. The Benefits Culture, aka bassist Caitlin Field and drummer Jess Greengrass, bring a deeper, richer sound which beautifully translates some of Grace's most personal observations on life, love and loss in an ideologically transient time; the result is a collection of songs that provide a soundtrack to the modern struggle, with faith and with love, that will resonate with listeners everywhere.

"A powerful new songwriting voice" - The Guardian
"Whining folk singer" - The Telegraph
